SEO is the active practice of optimizing a web site by improving internal and external aspects in order to increase the traffic your web site receives from search engines. This ultimately affects the value of the website to your business. Few or no visitors means that you won’t have an audience or potential customers for your products or services.
Unless you drive a deliberate promotional advertising campaign, which really defeats the object of setting up your website, the majority of web traffic to your site is driven by the major commercial search engines – Google, Bing and Yahoo!. If your site cannot be found by search engines or your content cannot be put into their databases, you miss out on the incredible opportunities available to websites provided via search – people who want what you have visiting your site. Whether your site provides content, services, products, or information, search engines are a primary method of navigation for almost all Internet users.
Firms that practice SEO can vary; some have a highly specialized focus, while others take a more broad and general approach. Optimizing a web site for search engines can require looking at so many unique elements that many practitioners of SEO (SEOs) consider themselves to be in the broad field of website optimization (since so many of those elements intertwine).
Hooklinks practices its SEO as part of the service it provides to its customers when developing their website at the earliest opportunity, by getting to know the business and the market in which the customer operates. It then works up a strategy with the customer to work to. This ensures that all elements that influence the strength of the optimization, titles, keywords, content and associated parts of the site, all have a relevance to getting the site found and correctly placed in search results.
The web is a very competitive place to work and getting listed on page one of any search is extremely difficult, but by working logically and methodically it is possible to get a better search ranking and move toward the goal of a #1 position on page one.

My Name is David Batten, I have been working as an illustrator since 1985, working freelance for various individuals and publishers (Crowood, EMAP ) producing angling book and magazine illustrations. In 2000 I had a chance to go full time and set up Hooklinks to manage my work life after 30 years in engineering.
In 2001 it became evident that there was a wider market for my skills when asked to do some packaging work for 2 tackle and bait manufacturers, Korda and Innovatebaits. The latter was to see my skills pushed into web design and development.
Today all of these skills are used to provide support for a wide range of angling, fisheries and related businesses. On the journey I have taken on insurance, mortgage and NLP businesses as clients, all of whom continue to use my services today,
My angling illustration has come a long way from those humble days in the mid 80's as you will see in the various pages of my website.
